Emily's Surgery

Monday, March 22, 2010 Emily had a Cystoscopy to decompress her ureterocele. We had to be at the hospital at 730am to check in, and by then Miss Emily was hungry and tired!! She wasn't impressed with us withholding food. :) The procedure itself did not take long--most of the time was taken up by prep before and recovery after. When it was done, Dr. Cooper came out and told us things went well. When he was done, he went back and made sure her bladder looked OK just to be safe, and that looked good too!

Emily was in a bit of pain that morning, so it was managed with Tylenol. Monday evening she was spitting up quite a lot, and overnight she started having diarrhea. It was pretty gross! She also didn't sleep much...which meant I did not sleep much. :( The darn anesthesia had her so sleepy during the day that she was wide wake most of the night. On the positive side, everything was normal and she seemed to be doing well overall!

We were released late Tuesday morning, with sweet Emily still complication free! We go back in 6wks to repeat the tests (renal ultrasound and VCUG). They will hopefully show us that the ureterocele is completely decompressed and that their is still no reflux!
